A temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism is located near the top of 491-meters-high Mt. Makio. The temple has been attracting people as the fourth temple of 33 Kannon Pilgrimage in western Japan. It is also crowded in spring for cherry blossoms, in autumn for yellow leaves, and with hikers seeking a spectacular view from the mountain top.
